Though the Mens final and Wāhine’s semi final results didn’t go our way this time, the 2025 campaign underlines the strength, resilience, and growing ambition of Linwood — and gives us plenty to build from for years ahead.
2025 in Review: Back-to-Back Finals & Sustained Excellence
For the second year running, Linwood Senior Mens reached the Metro premier final — a testament to the depth, consistency and heart of this club.
Over the past four seasons, Linwood have been semi-finalists or better every year, demonstrating a stable upward trajectory for the club and its players.
Our Wāhine produced a very strong season too, losing in the semi final stage of their competition.
Getting to this year’s final wasn’t easy — we navigated tough matches and stiff competition, but the commitment from players, management, and the community never wavered.
Congratulations to Marist Albion
Huge respect to Marist Albion for their strong performance and their deserved win in the final. Their style of rugby and determination this season have set the highest of benchmarks. Marist showed why they are top class, and we congratulate them for lifting the trophy.
What This Means for Linwood: More Than Just Results

The club culture remains strong: unity, spirit, and community support stay at the heart of everything we do.
Reaching finals consistently helps reinforce that Linwood is building “Eastside excellence” — a standard of rugby that represents not just a team, but a community identity. Equally the club had it’s strongest representative showing in years, both management and players alike, including some outstanding rep seasons from our Wāhine.

We may not have lifted the trophy this time, but Linwood’s journey continues. The future is bright. We’re building, Eastside excellence, and it’s just getting started.
